Crop Insurance Minute - Pay Premiums Late

The Risk Management Agency (RMA) released a bulletin stating that for the 2019 crop year only, interest on crops with a billing cycle starting August 15, 2019 will be deferred until November 30, 2019. In other words, spring crop (Corn, Soybeans, Grain Sorghum) premiums normally due by September 30, can be paid by November 30, 2019, with no interest attached.  However, if premiums are paid with a postmark date of December 1, 2019, or later, the full interest previously deferred (from October 1 - November 30) will be attached. This is due to the expected late harvest and flooding issues many have experienced.
