Boosting Bushels – Seed Treatment Edition
Mar 13, 2020
Preparing your seed for a winning growing season
Planting time will be here before we know it, and for most growers, using a seed treatment is a standard on-farm practice that helps to boost plants’ stand establishments and get crops off to a healthy start. By including a seed treatment to your planting practices, it can protect your seed investment during the early stages of development and offset any potential issues caused by cool, wet weather. When using a seed treatment, you are also protecting your crops from:
- Early Season Insect Pests – Insect pests can harm crops in the early stages of emergence, both by damaging young plants and, in many crops, by acting as vectors of viruses. Seed treatments can provide protection from above and below-ground insects.
- Diseases – Fungal diseases can inhibit the growth of an emerging seedling or harm the plant at any point during the growing season. Controlling these diseases helps with the development of a healthy root system – the basis for optimal crop establishment and yield production.
At Ag Partners Cooperative, we work closely with our growers to develop seed treatments that work best for their acres. We know that each grower has their own unique challenges, and we want to do our part to help you succeed on the farm and in the marketplace.
